Blended Learning

New!

The American Red Cross has developed the Blended Learning First Aid/CPR/AED Program--a new way to offer Red Cross training, providing additional flexibility and access to important lifesaving skills.

The first portion of the training is completed online.  Each participant can take the training from any computer that meets the minimum operating system requirements and has Internet access.  For the second part of the training, a Red Cross instructor conducts a skills session where the participant's skills are practiced and assessed.

This is a great tool for companies that require training of their employees but find scheduling courses difficult in accommodating work schedules.  It is also a great tool for the busy individual who now has the opportunity to learn the basic academic skills online, at anytime of day or night,  and then attend a skills demonstration session to obtain certification.

Participants may choose the modules of interest from Adult CPR/AED (automated external defibrillation) to Infant/Child CPR to First Aid--and a combination of Adult CPR/AED with First Aid.

Course combines online presentation, online test, and hands-on manikin skills test, and teaches participants to:

  • Recognize injury or illness and and when to contact EMS

  • Recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies

  • Avoid blood borne pathogen exposure

  • Know the role of AED's in the cardiac chain of survival
